tuesday, july 19th, 2016 / Editors
It is summer 2016 and Sziget celebrates its’ 24 edition during 7 days with countless musicians, artists, and performers. The festival grounds is filled with hundreds, maybe even a thousand programs on more than 60 different venues. Tickets were sold in record time and now where do we even start? Festival.Travel is ready to share their secret little Sziget music guide!
Rihanna and Muse will have some amazing performances planned for Sziget. But did you know that Sia’s performance at Coachella is all what everyone talked about in the end? The show was impeccable and we’re happy to see her at this years’ Sziget edition! Manu Chao won’t disappoint either and will be buzzing the Sziget grounds from ska to punk and Latin rhythms. And a spectacular End Show with Hardwell, fireworks and confetti you will not easily forget!
#2 Hungarian acts
Sziget wants to bring Hungarian bands closer to you and we suggest seeing Bohemian Betyars, a ska, folk and punk band that can often be compared to Gogol Bordello. For a more alternative feeling, Quimby who are the biggest Hungarian acts will perform on the main stage at 16.00 on Thursday and this band who can easily fill stadiums in Hungary. If you are up for a little more regga and drum’n’bass in the evening hop over to the A38 Stage to see the Brains. Curious who made this year’s Sziget Anthem? Yes a Hungarian singer and song-writer named Odett. You can find her at the Telekom VOLT stage on Day 6, Monday at 23.15.
#3 Hidden Gems
Here a little extra to find the little hidden gems on the smaller stages around Sziget. Leningrad (RU) to be found at the World Music Stage on Day 4. They have performed many times at Sziget and bring the craziest party to scene. Same stage another act is Goran Bregovic Wedding And Funeral Band, who are internationally recognized as one of the best Balkan artists in the world. Or do you prefer to see a Columbian salsa band? LA 33 will get your hips swinging. Moving to the Europe Stage, John Coffey, a Dutch post-hardcore band and also one of the last chances to see them performing, as they will sadly end later this year. J’adore, listen to the to the instrumentals and vocals of Deluxe on the Europe Stage and you have a new artist to follow immediately.
#4 Artists must see!
Die Antwoord a South African hip-hop, rap-rave band on Day 1 at the main stage, we really wonder what they will be delivering on stage. Parov Stelar will be hitting the main stage Day 2 at 19.30 with his great electro swings, with a mix of jazz, electro and house music. His performance will definitely get the crowd dancing. A pop sensation Jess Glynne, singer of Clean Bandit will get you singing along to her songs on the A38 Stage. Also here CHVRCHES will bring along some emotions and joy together to the crowd.
#5 Late night DJ’s
It is time for some spinning records, DJ’s like Boys Noize (D) and Noisia (NL) are heading to the A38 stage. The Colosseum is the place to be for all the electronic music lovers. Ready for some progressive house? Sharam one of the duo of Deep Dish. A recently discovered talented DJ &ME, entered the Techno and House world out of nowhere and is now awaiting for you at Sziget with his DJ set. DJ’s like Tale of Us cannot be missed on Day 1, as they do not just move your body but touch your soul with their tunes.
See you abroad!
