During daytime, the festival site is one big chill zone full of sunbathers, swimmers and floating airbeds. The first performances start in the afternoon, making sure the energy level of all Balatonsounders gets higher and higher. It’s really a day and night difference: the relaxed setting slowly changes into one big party venue. Nice temperatures, plenty of food stands, tasty drinks, pretty people and the biggest dj’s worldwide.

The location

Zamárdi, Hungary

Balaton Sound Festival is held in Zamárdi, 5 kilometres south of Siofok, Hungary. Siofok is the biggest seaside resort at the shores of the Balaton Lake. The climate of Hungary can be described as typical European continental influenced climate with warm, dry summers and fairly cold winters. You can easily get from Budapest to Zamárdi and Siofok by train or bus.

What do I have to know?

This summer the Balaton Sound Express will be on the road for the very first time! The train will depart from Antwerp and Eindhoven to the final destination: the train station of Zamárdi, a few minutes away from the Balaton Sound festival site. Tickets for Balaton Sound Express are available in the Balaton Sound webshop.

What do I have to know?

Together with InterRail and Festival.Travel offer tickets to travel through whole Europe. With an interrail ticket, you have unlimited train access for a certain period within 30 European countries. This excludes the travellers’ mother resident country. Make your festival holiday more adventurous and a bigger experience!

What do I have to know?

The fastest way to travel to Balaton Sound is by taking a plane to Budapest (Hungary) and then taking a transfer to the festival site. In cooperation with Cheapflights we help you find the cheapest flights. The website compares every flight and will select the most favorable offer you can get.

Be aware of the limited luggage space, especially when you have to take tents e.g. with you. Advice: Festival.Travel also offers cheap hostels, pre-pitched tents and lockers as an option.

What do I have to know?

Travelling by car to a festival gives you freedom when and where to do pit stops and perhaps include some sightseeing while on the road. If you have some free seats left or looking for a ride, there are several website you can check out. Sharing a ride is a great opportunity to connect with people and share your journey costs.

Keep in mind that during the ride you will pass several toll roads. At most of these check points you can pay by credit card, but we would still advice you to bring cash with you.

When is Balaton Sound 2016?
Balaton Sound Festival 2016 takes place July 6 – 10, 2016.

When can I enter the Festival terrain?
With a 5 Days Pass, visitors can enter the site from July 6 at 2.00 pm. With a 4 Days pass, visitors can enter the site from July 7 at 6.00am.

When can I enter the campsites?
The Balaton Sound Camping and the Balaton Sound Beach Camping will be open from Wednesday July 6 2.00pm until Monday July 11 8.00 am. With a Moving-in Ticket it is possible to access the campsites one day earlier.

When does the festival end?
The last acts will perform during the night of Sunday (July 10) on Monday (July 11). Everyone is requested to leave the festival terrain on Monday morning.

What is the minimum approved age of a Balaton Sound visitor?
Balaton Sound does not know a minimum approved age, but children below 14 years old cannot enter the festival terrain without the guidance of an adult. Children below 11 years old are allowed to enter the festival for free.

How can I pay at this year’s Balaton Sound?
The only way to pay at Balaton Sound is with the Festival card. This electronic currency can be picked up for free at one of the many charging points. Here, you can top-up the pass with cash or debit/credit cards. More information about the payment system can be found here:

All tickets carry my name since I’m the one who made the order. Is this going to a problem for my friends?
On the tickets you can find the name of the person who purchased the tickets, not to whom the ticket belongs. As the tickets are scanned at the entrance of the festival, the barcodes will get checked to verify the tickets’ validity. Subsequently they can check the system to check the name of the ticket holder. Does a ticket change its’ owner? Please let the ticket provider (Paylogic) know by mail

Can I refund my ticket?
No, Festival.Travel is not permitted to accept or change returned tickets, but it is possible to sell your ticket to someone else. Would you like to have more information on reselling your ticket, or planning to do so? Please contact

What are the privileges of a VIP Festival Pass holder? 
With a VIP Festival Pass you have access to the festival site via the VIP entrance. No need to wait in a long line! Also you are allowed to watch the Main Stage artists from the VIP Grand Stand. Ticket for the VIP Camping is excluded.

I have a regular Festival Pass, am I allowed to buy a VIP Camping ticket?
Yes, the festival tickets have nothing to do with the camping tickets. So with a regular Festival Pass you can still buy a VIP Camping ticket.

What does a Balaton Sound – VOLT Festival Combi Pass mean?
With this Pass you don’t only have access to Balaton Sound, but also to the VOLT Festival which will be held from 1 to July 4 in Sopron, Hungary.


What is the currency in Hungary?
The official currency in Hungary is the Forint (HUF). The rate of exchange is at the moment 389 HUF / 1 PND. 307 HUF / 1 EUR.
